The Beginning of the End of AIDS Starts with You

The facts don't lie. Here's why we need your help:

An HIV+ pregnant women can give birth to an HIV free baby

98% of mother-to-child HIV transmission incidents are preventable

Yet, more than 1,000 babies are born every day with HIV

Half of children born with HIV will die before their 2nd birthday without treatment

So what will it take to deliver an AIDS Free Generation by 2015?

We need to get 1.4 million HIV+ pregnant women on medication - medication that costs around 40 cents a day

It's doable.

The Experience of a Lifetime

On January 8, 2011, I started an internship in Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Africa. The program I worked with was called Cross Cultural Solutions. I was working in an orphanage, school, and daycare for kids with developmental disabilities for 12 weeks. Organizations like the children's orphanages, daycares, and centers for street children have a lack of available funding and an increase in disease -- including HIV/AIDS -- and leaves many children without available, qualified caregivers. As a CCS volunteer, I was able to provide one-on-one attention and care that these children may not otherwise receive.
